Share The Table
Share the Table began in 2010 as a simple act of love and hospitality—a weekly meal offered at Faith Harbor United Methodist Church in Surf City. From that humble beginning, God has grown this ministry into a vital resource for our community.
Today, Share the Table supports local families each week through a robust food pantry, a school backpack program, a weekly community meal and a household ministry. In 2024, we distributed 620,000 pounds of food—the equivalent of 522,329 meals for neighbors in need. Since moving into our new building in August 2024, in addition to expanding our food programs, we have been able to provide more community resources, nutrition education classes and cooking classes to the neighbors we serve.
At the heart of this ministry are our incredible volunteers. They don’t just hand out food—they build relationships, listen with compassion, and offer hope to those facing difficult circumstances. Many of our clients are dealing with more than just hunger—they’re navigating health challenges, family struggles, and financial hardship. A kind word or caring ear can make all the difference.
Share the Table’s greatest impact lies not only in feeding bodies but also in uplifting spirits. We aim to empower and encourage—both those we serve and those who serve alongside us. Neighbors are treated with dignity and respect as they shop in our free pantry. Children receive nourishment at home through our backpack program. Volunteers often tell us they receive more blessings than they give. And our generous donors can see the good their support is doing every day.
Together, we are working to end food insecurity in our community. We remain committed to doing everything we can until no one in our community goes hungry.
Share the Table is a faith-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, proudly supported by six charter churches, local congregations, civic groups, businesses, and compassionate individuals throughout Pender and Onslow Counties.

The Emma Anderson group cooks and serves on the First Sunday of each month. Sandy Tenney leads a core group of cooks who work together to plan and prepare the meals. This core group serves as the primary cooks each month. If you are interested in joining this group, please reach out to Sandy at tenneyse@gmail.com.
The core group of cooks will occasionally need additional support; so, if you’re interested in being on stand-by to assist, please provide your name and contact information in the month you can help and we’ll reach out to you a few days before the First Sunday if you are needed.
Our Server group is led by Louis and Sarah Cox. Serving meals to those in our community who come to Share The Table to get a much-needed meal is perhaps the most rewarding and satisfying part of our mission. Each month we need five people to assist in serving and cleaning up afterwards. If you would like to help, please provide your name and contact information in the month you can help. Additional questions can be directed to Louis Cox at topsail1032@gmail.com.
