Who We Are
We are Motivated by the Love of God
We are a Bible-based Christian church.
Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel is an ecumenical, non-denominational Christian church that gathers for worship and fellowship. Our body of believers is devoted to prayer as well as the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. Our mission is to glorify God and to proclaim to all that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
Lay leaders have guided the Chapel since its founding, but a guest minister leads us in worship each Sunday.
We are motivated by the love of God to provide a means for Christian ministers to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to any within our reach by leading worship services without denominational discrimination.
During the summer months, we have active children’s and youth programs led by a youth minister and youth ministry assistant.
What Makes Us Special
We are a nondenominational, Christian church.
A different Christian minister leads our Sunday worship each week. And it’s been that way since 1951.
Our church family is welcoming and caring.
We minister to our visiting ministers and their families by giving them a week-long respite in our parsonage.
We actively undertake mission projects in our backyard and beyond.
We minister to active missionaries and their families by offering them a complimentary vacation in our fellowship house respite apartment.
We seek to bring others to Jesus through outreach and education.
Our inspirational music program is the heartbeat of this chapel.
Our dedicated affiliates who volunteer selflessly to make the Chapel hum are the lifeblood.
You are an affiliate and part of our church family, too, after you worship with us once.

Our History
Believing in God’s Word and Spirit
Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel is a nondenominational Christian church founded in 1951 by J.G. Anderson, Sr. in memory of his mother. Mr. Anderson’s vision was to build a community of summer homes in Topsail Beach with a place for Christian worship that would also be a respite for weekly guest ministers. Ministers and their families enjoy use of the Chapel’s parsonage for a week— our gift to the minister, just as Mr. Anderson had desired.
In 2012, we began a ministry for active missionaries serving abroad who will be going on furlough then returning to their assignments. Missionaries and their families enjoy a respite in the apartment in our fellowship house for six days and nights.
For almost 50 years, EAMC was only open for church services from Easter to Labor Day weekend. In 2000, our beloved chapel opened the doors for services year round.
What We Believe
Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel is an ecumenical, non-denominational, Christian church that gathers for worship, the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, and Christian fellowship. Our mission is to glorify God and to proclaim to all that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
Our chapel is unique in that we do not have membership. We welcome all who would like to worship with us. Our affiliates represent a variety of Christian backgrounds, yet we all are on a journey to know God’s Truth.
Supporting scriptures for each statement below can be found here.
God’s Word teaches:
There is one God , eternally existent as Father, Son and Holy Spirit , our Creator , Redeemer and Sustainer.
The Holy Bible of the Old and New Testaments is the divinely inspired and infallible Word of God which speaks with final authority concerning truth and reveals His love for the world .
Mankind’s sin separated all from God . To restore this relationship, God by His grace sent His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ , who was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of all, was buried, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven where He reigns in power with the Father and will come again.
Repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way that assures believers of their forgiveness of sins, indwelling of the Holy Spirit, complete restoration, and eternal life with Him.
As Jesus Christ’s followers we are His body, the church. Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit: therefore, we are to honor God with our bodies.
Baptism is an outward sign of the inward work of Jesus Christ
The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of Jesus Christ’s death upon the cross and the shedding of His blood for the forgiveness of sins.
God wonderfully and immutably creates each person biologically as either male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God, thus each person is loved and valued by Him from conception to death.
Marriage was created by God as a covenant between one man and one woman in a single exclusive union, reflecting Christ’s relationship with His church.
We are commanded to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves1 by showing compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity to every person.

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Holy Bible, as the divinely inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel’s (EAMC) doctrine, practice, and policy, the Governing Body of EAMC is the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.
